Mae Kesner, 90, of Williamsburg, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Overland Park Regional Hospital. Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Family will meet with friends following the service. A private family burial will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, at a later date. Mae was born September 2, 1923, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Fayette and Ruth (Hicks) Adams. She was a resident of Williamsburg since 1960, moving from De Soto, Kansas. She graduated from Wyandotte High School with the class of 1941. Mae and husband Guy founded Guy & Mae’s Tavern in 1973, retiring in 1986. She also worked as a clerk for the Ottawa Woolworth’s five and dime store in the late 1960’s and as a waitress for the Red Rooster Truck Stop in the mid 1960’s. She was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, Williamsburg Friends of the Library, Williamsburg Historical Society, T.O.P.S, and a bible study group. Mae was united in marriage with Guy Kesner June 28, 1941, in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Nelle Joyner, Mary Jane Hoehnscheidt, and Ruth Steele. Survivors include her four daughters, Diana Macoubrie of Williamsburg; Judy Simpson and her husband Terry Ballard also of Williamsburg; Christina Wilcoxson and husband Steve of Pomona; and Dennie Gates of San Marcos, Texas; seven grandchildren, Brad Macoubrie and wife Maria, Ernie Macoubrie and wife Amy, Lori Thompson and husband Ty, Joel Gates and wife Stacey, Leah Robertson, Jake Wilcoxson and wife Jenny, and Tate Wilcoxson and wife Melissa; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
