M. Lorene “Woody” Ledom, age 89, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Monday, July 13, 2020, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. A private family funeral service will be held. Woody was born October 16, 1930 in Denver Colorado, the daughter of Harry H. and Margaret (Cody) Woodruff. She graduated from South High School in Denver, Colorado with the class of 1947, then 1 year of college studies at Ottawa University. Woody has been an Ottawa resident since 1950 moving here from Denver. Woody was united in marriage to George Ledom, Jr. December 31, 1950 in Denver, Colorado. He survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Valerie E. Shaw (Art) Hermleigh, Texas, Karla J. Hein (John) Buhler, Kansas; two sisters, Yvonne Brennen, California, and Elaine Hand (Hank) Allen, Texas; three grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Woody was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Nancy Steamer and Louise Griffith. She worked as a veterinary assistant for 7 plus years in the 1960’s at Ottawa Veterinary Hospital, at Dr. Lyman’s dental practice as a dental assistant and in the early 1970’s was a nurse’s aide for 3 years at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Woody was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Union Chapter No. 15, 4 years Worthy Matron, First United Methodist Church, Genealogical Society and Red Hat Society. She had some of her most wonderful experiences in life singing. Woody sang in the a cappella choir in high school and sang many years in the church choir. She enjoyed genealogy research, nature, animals, and dancing. The family suggests memorial contributions to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
