Lynda Kay Hafner, age 74, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018, at her home in Ottawa, Kansas, with her family by her side. Services will be announced later. Lynda was born March 13, 1944, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of KB and Phyllis (Klotz) Barton. She was the oldest of 4 children. Lynda was united in marriage to Reginald Hafner June 13, 1962, in Asmara, East Africa. This marriage produced 3 children, Rebecca, Sheila and Ernest. After settling in Hutchinson, they later divorced in 1980. As an army brat and later an army wife, Lynda traveled extensively. Most notably to Okinawa, Japan; Asmara, East Africa; and Bangkok, Thailand. She became a CNA in 1974 and worked at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson. She obtained her LPN in 1977 and worked at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson; Hutchinson Hospital; Wheatland Health Care Center, Kingman; and Norwich Care Center, Norwich. Lynda retired in 2000 to enjoy her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Michael Weldon; and nephew, Michael Todd Barton. She is survived by her three children, Rebecca Morgan and husband William of Canton, Sheila Hafner and wife Margo Lauer of Merriam, and Ernest Hafner and wife Jennifer of Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Deborah Linderud and husband William of Stoughton, Wisconsin; brother, Kellis Barton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Geri Polsley and husband Ryan of the home; Adria Hafner of Merriam, Thomas Miller of Merriam, Anna Hafner and Natalie Hafner both of Kansas City, Misssouri; five great-grandchildren, Kaytlynne, Rylen, Emily and Colby Polsley of the home, and Osiria Miller of Merriam; and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
