Lyman "Bud" E. Ashwill, Jr., age 78, of rural Paola, passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 24, 2015. Bud was born on March 14, 1937 to Lyman and Lola Ashwill in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural School System in 1955. He attended Kansas University, UMKC, and various technical schools which pertained to his work. He was employed by U.S. Atomic Energy for years until he moved into another form of engineer work. Over the next few years he was with Martin Marietta Corporation and worked with various NASA projects. After moving back to the Kansas City area he did work at Children"s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri setting up the First Bio Medical Department. In 1974, he began Medical Systems, Inc. which is was still running and operating until the present time. Over the years he has devoted his time to Optimist International as a life member and started the "Just Say No Program" in Kansas. He was a reserve officer for the Johnson County Sheriff"s Office for 20 years. Boy scouting also claimed his talents, starting First OMSI Explorers in Johnson County, Kansas. Bud was a devoted husband and father to four children. One daughter preceded him in death. He had seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. On December 6, 2015, his ashes will be scattered over his property at 1:00 p.m. His property is located at 32474 W. 287th St., Paola, KS 66071.
