Lyle Dubois, 88, of Paola, Kansas lost his life on October 23, 2011, after a brief illness. Lyle was born in Burlingame, Kansas on June 29, 1923, to Hal and Elma Black Dubois. He grew up in Burlingame and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1941. He married Doris Ann (Annie) Jolly on May 24, 1947, in Olathe, Kansas. Lyle began farming in Irving, Kansas and later moved to the Johnson/Miami County area, where he was a farm manager. In later years he worked for the Spring Hill Elevator from which he retired. Lyle was a charter member of the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit and a member of the Palomino Horse Breeders of America. Lyle enjoyed handing out silver dollars to the younger lead-in exhibitors at the horse shows. He also enjoyed working with the youth in 4-H. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Annie, and one brother Robert. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his two children, daughter Verdon, of Paola and son Terry and his wife Marjie of Paola; three grandchildren, Brian Dubois, Stacey Dubois, and Scott Dubois and his wife Sherry; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Isaac; one brother Donald Dubois (Bud) from Lenexa, Kansas; and nieces and nephews. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Kansas City Hospice House in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
