Lucretia Kay Johnson

Lucretia Kay Johnson, 70, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at Saint Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Cremation will follow. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Friday, January 6, 2017, at the mortuary. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. Kay was born Tuesday, September 3, 1946, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Richard and Lois (Vickers) Ledom. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident. Kay attended Wellsville High School later receiving her GED and continued her education at Ottawa University. Kay was united in marriage to Kenneth B. Johnson August 8, 1962, in Ottawa. He survives of their home. Other survivors include her two sons, Kenneth Johnson, Jr. and wife Tammy of Ottawa, and James Johnson and wife Tammy also of Ottawa; four sisters, Randa Cooper and husband Jim of Hays, Patty Yeager of Lubbock, Texas, Nancy Ledom of Lubbock, Texas, and Terry Moody of Ottawa; three brothers, Steve Gumm and wife Heather of Tonganoxie, Jeff Gumm and wife Rhonda of Concordia, and Rocky Gumm and wife Marilee of Glasco; brother-in-law, John Cooper of Glasco; four grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous step brothers, step sisters, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Ledom; mother, Lois Gumm; sister, Jeannie Cooper; and half brother, Richard Ledom, Jr. She worked for several companies in Ottawa including, H.D. Lee as a seamstress, Parmalee in production, and King Radio as a secretary. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901 Auxiliary in Ottawa, Williamsburg Wildlife Club, and ladies golf group at Lamont Hill Golf Course. Kay enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading and using her computer. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
