Lucille Lorraine Kunard

Lucille Lorraine Kunard, 97, formerly of Ottawa, Kansas, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at Village Manor in Abilene, Kansas. Family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary, from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 17, 2014 and process to Highland Cemetery for a graveside services at 2:30 P.M. She was born on Saturday, October 21, 1916 in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer Rice and Elsie (Bishop) Hazen. She was a near lifelong resident of Ottawa, Kansas, moving to their farm in 1947. Lucille attended Ottawa schools. Over the years she worked for Burke Awning, Bruce & Thomas, Mode-O-Day, and nine years at Ransom Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1982. On April 15, 1947 Lucille was united in marriage with Francis E. Kunard in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1988. Survivors include her children, David Kunard of Guam, and daughter, Janet Donovan and companion Bob Kuntz of Abilene, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Bob Kunard; parents; and two sisters, Florence Kirk and Hazel Robertson.
