Lovenia Orender

Lovenia Agnes Orender, age 94, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Select Specialty Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born on Saturday, April 24, 1915, in St. John, Kansas, the daughter of Albert Lawrence and Doris Hester (Crawford) Dierking. She moved frequently with her family as a child, moving to Overland Park, Kansas from Hudson, Kansas, when she was in third grade. She moved to Ottawa in 1971. Lovenia graduated from Shawnee Mission High School with the class of 1935. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on their farm with everything except running the combine. She loved raising livestock and enjoyed her chickens, turkeys, and pigs. She was an avid collector of pig figurines. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Ottawa and Good Neighbor’s Extension Homemaker’s Unit until it disbanded. On Sunday, November 19, 1939, Lovenia was united in marriage with Tommy Jean Tom Orender in Overland Park, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2000. She is survived by her: Daughter-Darlene J. Colwell and her husband, Dale, of Ottawa, Kansas; Granddaughter-Donita Colwell Callahan and her husband, Rob, of Ottawa, Kansas; Grandson-Duane Michael Colwell and his wife, Lori, of Osage City, Kansas; Grandson-Daniel Jean Colwell of Ottawa, Kansas; Brother-Alvin Nesbit Dierking of Wichita, Kansas; Gt.Granddaughter-Michelle Colwell Patrick and her husband, Derek, of Gainesville, Texas; Gt.Granddaughter-Stephanie Colwell of Baldwin City, Kansas; Gt.Grandson-Ryan Colwell of Topeka, Kansas; Step-Granddaughter-Becky Geisler of Lawrence, Kansas; Step Grandson-Derek Montgomery and his wife, Samantha, of Emporia, Kansas; Step Grandson-Dustin Montgomery of Lebo, Kansas; Step Grandson-Dylan Montgomery of Osage City, Kansas; Gt.Gt.Grandchildren-Nathan Colwell and Jayden, Dakota, and Madison Patrick. She is preceded in death by her: Husband-Tommy Jean “Tom” Orender; Father-Albert Lawrence Dierking; Mother-Doris Hester (Crawford) Dierking; Sister-Vesta Arlene “Betty” and Dierking Orender. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at First Assembly of God, 520 E. 13th St., in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010. IN STATE: Mrs. Orender will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 Sunday evening, CEMETERY: Lawrence Memorial Park in Lawrence, Kansas.
