Lourena Kettler

Lourena Kettler, age 97, passed away July 27, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center. Lourena was born May 22, 1915, the youngest of five children. Her father died when she was two. Lourena married Clarence Kettler, a Miami county farmer on May 15, 1937. Lourena and her husband farmed in the Paola area for 25 years, moving in 1961 to a farm west of Mound City, Kansas, on Wall Street Road. Clarence died in 1984 and in 1987 Lourena moved back to Paola. Lourena helped in 4-H, church, farm organizations, the thrift shop, and ladies' clubs. Her promotion to heaven was a peaceful transition and her life an inspiration. Lourena was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David, two sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by daughter Judith and Darryl Emert of Sabetha, KS; sons Bruce and Jean Anne Kettler of Meriden, KS, Keith and Avonne Kettler of Erie, CO, and Hubert and Sarah Kettler of Lawrence, KS; 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
