Louis Eldon Turner, 87, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, at his home in Ottawa, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, August 27, 2018, at the mortuary. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Eldon was born May 13, 1931, in Ottawa, the son of Louis Emery and Grace Rosetta (Taylor) Turner. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident spending his entire life on the same farm. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1948. Eldon served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1954. Eldon was united in marriage to Virginia Carlson November 4, 1955, in Edgerton, after meeting at Lee’s Café drinking coffee. They shared nearly 58 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Grace Turner and sister, Roberta Jean Flory. Survivors include his five daughters, Jo Mazzetta and husband Eldo, Rae Warren and husband Steve, Lou Baker and husband Jeff, Tracy White and husband David, and Gale Hoyt and husband Scott all of Ottawa; sister, Doris Sullivant of Lawrence; brother-in-law, Archie Niccum of Gardner; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dog Cocoa. Eldon was a lifelong hard-working farmer in crops, livestock and dairy. He spent many years as a heavy equipment operator in the Kansas City area. Eldon also worked in the restaurant business with Virginia. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101 in Kansas City, Missouri and former member of the Optimist Club in Ottawa. Eldon loved his family and always enjoyed the nightly dinners he had with his daughters and their families. He liked to ride his Gold Wing motorcycle, enjoyed farming and livestock and reading his Bible.
