Louis Edward Riebe

Louis Edward Riebe, age 90, of Paola, Kansas, passed away September 13, 2018 at Spring Hill Care and Rehabilitation Center. Louis was born on April 3, 1928, in Garnett, Kansas, to George and Lois Large Riebe. He lived his early years on a farm near Lone Elm, Kansas. As a boy, the family moved to Richmond where Louis graduated high school in 1946. Louis married Patricia (Pat) Glaze of Richmond, Kansas; January 14, 1950, and moved to Paola in 1957. They raised four children and enjoyed life together until her death in 1993. Louis married Valerie McClintic February 4, 1995. Louis was a member of the Paola United Methodist Church for over 60 years where he was active with the Methodist Men group. He retired from the Phillips Pipeline Company after 36 years; most of which was at the Paola Station. Louis passed away September 13, 2018 at the age of 90. He was proceeded in death by his parents, a brother Raymond Riebe, his first wife Pat Riebe, a son Terry Riebe, brothers-in-law Gale Beckner and Don Hamner. Survivors include his wife of 23 years Valerie Riebe; Sisters Wilma Hamner of Belleville, Illinois and Virginia Beckner of Ottawa, Kansas; Daughter-in-law Marlene Riebe of Paola; Sons Dennis Riebe of Council Buffs, Iowa and Jeff Riebe of Paola; Daughter Mindy (Tim) McMahon of Marshalltown, Iowa; Step-son Mark Waldor of Santa Cruz, California; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, September 17, 2018, 2:00pm at Dengel and Son Funeral Home, Paola, Kansas. Visitation will be at 1:00pm before the service. Burial will be at the Paola Cemetery following the service. Memorials will go to the Paola United Methodist Church, Paola, Kansas.
