Louis E. Bud Plaschka, 78, of Ottawa, Kansas died on Sunday, February 22, 2009. He was born on Thursday, June 26, 1930, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was the son of Edward and Ilo (Fredricks) Plaschka. He was a lifelong resident of Ottawa. Bud graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1948. He was a lifelong farmer. He was also a rural mail carrier out of the Ottawa office from 1953 to 1986; hauled milk from 1948 to 1978; and owned and operated Plaschka & Kramer Liquor of Princeton from 1986 to 2006. Bud served in the United States Army from September 25, 1951 to September 2, 1953, earning medals and commendations including the Korean Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars; United Nations Service Medal; and National Defense Service Medal. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901; past member of Ottawa Lodge #803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Ottawa; and member of Rural Letter Carriers Association. MARRIAGE: On August 6, 1966, Bud was united in marriage with Pat McGuire. She survives of their home. Survivors include: Wife-Pat Plaschka of the home Son-Brandon Plaschka & wife, Glenda, of Ottawa, Kan. Son-Russ Plaschka & wife, Stephanie, of Moran, Kan. Daughter-Kim (Plaschka) Dixon of Ottawa, Kan. Sister-Nadine Elder & husband, Jr., of Topeka, Kan. Sister-Iris Caleb of Apache Junction, Ariz. Aunt-Dorothy Fredricks of Ottawa, Kan. Grandchild-Chelsea Bueno & husband, Mark Grandchild-John Dixon & wife, Heather Grandchild-Levi Plaschka Grandchild-Nate Plaschka Grandchild-Tyler Swift Grandchild-Emily Hayes Grandchild-Haley Hayes Grandchild-Aaron Plaschka Grandchild-Max Plaschka Three - Gt. Grandchildren He was preceded in death by: Father-Edward Plaschka Mother-Ilo (Fredricks) Plaschka Sister-Lucille Robinson VISITATION: The family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009.
