Lorna I. Blakeley

Lorna I. Blakeley, 92, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the First Christian Church, 1045 S. Hickory, Ottawa. Memorial service will immediately follow at the church. Inurnment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa. Lorna was born January 27, 1926, at Laurel, Nebraska, the daughter of Edmund and Christine (Froelich) Rink. She lived in Kansas City, Missouri, moving in 1969 to Ottawa. She graduated from Maize High School in 1943 and continued her education at University of Kansas graduating in 1949 with a degree in social work. Lorna was united in marriage to Lawrence Allen Blakeley September 10, 1950, at Wichita, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers, Irvine, Victor, Raymond, Harold and Marvin Rink. Survivors include her four children, Deborah Blakeley of Pomona, Alan Blakeley and wife Angel of Warsaw, Indiana, Sharon Brandt and husband Brad of Kearney, Nebraska, and Cynthia Cameron of Westwood; and five grandchildren, Blakeley Bond, Bree Brandt, Scott Cameron, Adam Cameron, and Aaron Cameron. Lorna worked in the refund inquiry department for the IRS in Kansas City, Missouri, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Ottawa, and TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). Lorna enjoyed playing cards with a local Bridge group at Sunflower Plaza and was a supporter of Prairie Paws.
