Lorene Porubcan

Lorene A. " Granny" Porubcan age 89 of Paola passed away peacefully Tuesday, at the Olathe Medical Center. Memorial Service will be Sat. Jan.24th at 11:00AM Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, visitation 10 to 11 AM (cremation) Memorials may be made to the Humane Society. Lorene was born March 7, 1919 in Winona Minnesota, to Antone and Blancha Johnston Peterson. She grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Winona State College where she received her teaching certificate. Lorene taught music and speech in Minnesota, and later in life worked in retail as a jeweler and as a manager in several department stores. She was married to Robert William Thaldorf for over 50 years living in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin until his passing. She married Stan Porubcan in 1992 and moved to Campbellsport, Wisconsin, until they retired to Sun City, Arizona, until his passing in 1996. Lorene moved to Paola 3/12 years ago to be near her granddaughters. She attended the Louisburg Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Lorene was a joy to her granddaughters and all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and one sister Fern Sens. Survivors are her children, son Robert K. Thaldorf and wife Nancy Princeton, Texas, daughter, Diane Sheimo, Sun City, Arizona, sister Vi McDonald, Cumberland, Wisconsin, sister Cal Patterson, Sun City, Arizona, 8 grandchildren Becky Latka, Omaha, Nebraska, Heidi Bacon, Paola, Kansas, Kathy Luft Mastalsz, Paola, Kansas, John Sheimo, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Susan Anderson, Carrollton, Texas, Robert Thaldorf, Charlestown, West Virginia, Matthew Schou, Omaha, Nebraska, and Andrew Sheimo, Adrian, Michigan and 17 great grandchildren.
