Loren Troutman

September 19, 1931 — October 12, 2013

Loren P. Troutman, age 82, of Wellsville, Kansas, formerly of Parker, Kansas died Saturday, October 12, 2013. He was born September 19, 1931 to John H. and Wanda E. (Polley) Troutman in Kansas City, Mo. He grew up in Parker, Kansas, attending Parker Grade school and graduating from Parker High School in 1949. Loren drove a truck for his brother, John Troutman, prior to owning his own Lime Hauling Business. He married Marlene Kettler in Block, KS on February 10, 1952. After their marriage he served as an apprentice carman for Kansas City Terminal Railway Company. He joined the Army and served for two years, 1953 and 1954, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was in the Kansas National Guard for 4 years with Battery "C" 127th Field Artillery at Paola, Kansas, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. Loren left the railroad in 1958 to enter the life insurance business and was with Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company for 33 years full-time sales and 7 years more after 'retirement' on a part time basis. He won the National Quality Award for 32 consecutive years; this is one of the life insurance industries most prestigious awards. Loren and Marlene had numerous trips which Loren won for outstanding production with Minnesota Mutual. Loren and Marlene were married for over 61 years; he was a devoted husband and wonderful father to his daughter Lorna, never too busy to do something for her. He enjoyed anything that involved family or being with family, and made friends wherever he was, never meeting a stranger. His hobbies included wood working, showing horses, and traveling, especially in the mountains. He loved to hunt quail and watch his bird dogs work. He liked to fish and shoot trap with his grandson and son-in-law. He especially enjoyed playing pitch with his grandchildren, Bryan and Emily, and feeding the horse with his granddaughter. He was a wonderful story teller and enjoyed telling a good joke. Loren leaves his wife Marlene, daughter Lorna Hull, son-in-law Howard, and 2 grandchildren Bryan and Emily. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother John, three sisters Hazel McDowell, Opal Davis, and Dorothy Eastwood, and also one grandson Joshua Hull. He is enjoying a reunion in heaven.
