Loren Arnold Herrs

Loren Arnold Herrs, 83, of Paola, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, at Miami County Medical Center, Paola. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church of Block Community, Paola, Kansas, on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Loren was born Thursday, April 20, 1939, in Paola, KS, the son of Arnold and Alma (Koelsch) Herrs. He grew up in the Block Community, attended grade school at Trinity Lutheran School, and graduated from Paola High School with the Class of 1957. He served his country with the National Guard and their unit was activated during the Vietnam Conflict. He served for 38 years, 30 years full time at the armory in Paola and Ottawa. Loren was united in marriage to Barbara Baird on June 28, 1969, in Kansas City, KS. They lived near Fort Carson in Colorado Springs and moved back to Paola in the Fall of 1969. They became the parents of two children David and Beth. After retiring from the National Guard, he went to work as a mechanic for Debrick Truckline in Paola. Loren was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Block Community. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Herrs. Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home; son David Herrs of El Dorado, KS; daughter Beth Herrs of Overland Park, KS; many other relatives and friends.
