Loran Wayne Casebolt

Loran Wayne Casebolt was born July 4, 1911, at Cedar Vale, Kansas. He was the son of Louis and Sarah Catherine (Lyon) Casebolt. He grew up in Cedar Vale, Kansas, moving to Winfield in 1936, Mason City, Iowa in 1959, and Ottawa in 1963 where he made his home until his death Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at the age of ninety years. Wayne attended schools Cedar Vale Schools He was a mechanic and bus driver over twenty years, employed by Winfield Bus Service. He was also employed as a driver for USD #290, Ottawa Bus Co., and City Bus Service, all in Ottawa. He was a member and Deacon of First Christian Church in Ottawa, and former member of Church of Christ in Cedar Vale and First Christian Church in Mason City, Iowa. He was a member of Christian Men's Fellowship and Jolly 60's. Wayne loved to keep up on recent event by watching the news and weather on television. Fishing with his family was a very special time for Wayne. He loved to be in nature with the one's he loved. On September 13, 1937, Wayne was united in marriage with Edna Hazel Strum at Winfield, Kansas. She survives of their home. Also surviving are his daughters, Leota Fay Evans of Monticello, Georgia, and Sharon Kay Godfrey of Grandview, Missouri; son, Max Dean Casebolt and his wife, Mary Ruth, of Ottawa; sister, Dorothy Reynolds of Topeka; Five grandchildren; and Seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Mabel Dene Casebolt, Avis Marie Hite, and Lola Mae Faris. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2001, at First Christian Church, Ottawa. IN STATE: Mr. Casebolt will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 12 noon to 9:00 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Winfield, Kansas, 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 10. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to American Diabetes Association, Franklin County Cancer Foundation, or First Christian Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
