Loleta “Fern” Majeski, 92, of Paola, Kansas passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Wellsville Retirement Center. She was born on May 21, 1926 at Centralia, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Fuller and Monna Maud Brown. She married Virgil “Vic” Majeski in Kansas City, Missouri in 1947 and they remained married for 46 years. He preceded her in death in 1993. Fern is survived by her daughter Cathy Majeski Gray and husband Scott of Overland Park, KS, son Mark Majeski of Paola, KS, and step-son Larry Majeski of O’Fallon, IL; granddaughter Chris Buchman and grandson Tom Buchman and wife Jody, and great grandchildren Tyler, Paige, and Jake Buchman, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Vic, she was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Lloyd Cunningham, Wilma Hamilton, and Betty Edmonds. Fern was most recently employed with Spangler Printing for 23 years until her retirement at age 62. Fern was a devout Catholic, and a member of the Holy Trinity Parish in Paola, Kansas. She loved dogs and cats, and was active with various charities in the area, most notably The Republican Women, The K-State EHU Extension, St. Mary’s Food Kitchen, and The Wheels of Mercy in Paola. Fern was a longtime supporter of the St. Joseph’s Indian School for the Lakota children, who recognized her with a certificate of appreciation in 2013. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and “Jeopardy” and loved her family most of all. She was happiest with her family surrounding her and sharing stories and laughs. She will be missed dearly by all her family and those who knew her. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Mid-America Nutrition Program at midamericanutrition.org.
