Lois Myers, 96, of Centropolis, Kansas, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Centropolis Christian Church. The family will meet with friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Interment Union Cemetery, Centropolis, Kansas. Lois was born in a log cabin Sunday, August 11, 1918, in Reed Point, Montana, the daughter of Samuel Hoyt and Olla Mae (Hamner) Blankenship. She had five sisters and two brothers that survived the rugged Montana life: Vida, Bessie, Bird, Margaret, Kathryn, George and Everett. At age eleven their family moved by train to Kansas and settled in rural Pomona, Kansas. She attended Diamond Ridge Grade School and Pomona High School. Lois was united in marriage with Elmos English in 1939. They later divorced. Lois married George Myers in June 27,1949. He preceded her in death in 1967. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five sisters and two brothers. Survivors include her four children, Bonnie (English) Wiscombe and husband Jim of Overbrook, Becky O`Connor of Centropolis, Alan Myers and wife Lisa of Centropolis, and Teresa Dillon of Lawrence. Lois was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother. Lois worked for Appanoose School, King Radio and Parmalee Products. She was a member of the Centropolis Christian Church. Lois liked to dance, bake, and gather with family and friends. She was loved by many and will be missed and fondly remembered.
