Lois M. (Fenoughty) Clark passed away in Paola, Kansas on May 15, 2019. Lois Marie Fenoughty was born on a farm in Stanton Township of Miami County, Kansas on November 16, 1927, the only child of Charles M Fenoughty and Anna M. Miller. The Miller family was from Greeley, Kansas. The Fenoughty family left a home near Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland in 1847 and arrived in Miami County, Kansas in 1869. Lois attended Catholic grade school at St. Patrick’s School, and Ursuline Academy High School where she graduated in 1945. Lois married Paul Thomas Clark on September 16, 1948 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola. Paul had recently returned from three years in the U.S. Army in Panama during World War II. Paul and Lois managed a business on the Paola Town Square for several years and lived in an apartment above the business. Lois later worked in the County Clerk’s office for Miami County, and then as a bookkeeper for Triangle Builders. Paul and Lois were parents to three children. Stephen Paul, Kathleen Ann and Michael Craig were raised at the family home on Chippewa Street. Most recently she lived in Paola Vintage Park, where residents and staff became part of her family. Steve’s family mainly settled in the Kansas City area, Kathy (Gary) Russell's in Topeka and Mike (Mae) in the Chicago area. Her husband Paul and son Steve both preceded Lois in death. Lois is survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Paul and Lois shared a love of antique furniture, which populated their home. They traveled to see their children and grandchildren. Lois continued to support the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, of which she was a member for all her life. After Paul’s death, Lois volunteered extensively in her community and worked at the Hospice office. She then donated time at the Paola Alternative High School. Most recently she treasured her role as a Paola kindergarten foster grandmother. People who knew Lois the best, always seem to come back to the word “kind” to describe her. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or masses for Lois.
