Lois M. Haines, 96, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Ottawa Retirement Village. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 5, 2017 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Lois was born Saturday, June 19, 1920 in Copan, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jess and Ruby (Parker) Medlen. She lived in Franklin and Miami County, attending different schools in the area. She then moved to Topeka where she resided for the last 50 years. She went on to receive her GED. In 1940, Lois was united in marriage to Paul Clinton “Clint” Haines in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 2000. Survivors include her two children, Don Haines and wife Linda of Overbrook, and Gayle Peck and husband Phil of Wichita; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Lois was also preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Ruby Medlen; and all five of her siblings. She had the great pleasure of being a homemaker for the majority of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Topeka. Lois enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, and listening to music. When she was younger, Lois loved to go dancing.
