Lois M. Griffin was born to James and Bessie (Frost) Spring on Tuesday, January 26, 1932 in Garnett, Anderson County, Kansas. Lois was a lifelong Franklin County resident, and for forty-eight years lived in Pomona, where she made her home until her death on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at the age of seventy-five years. She worked as a seamstress about thirty years at H.D. Lee in Ottawa, until the plant closed and then worked at King Radio, also in Ottawa, for five years until her retirement in 1994. Lois was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her yard, walking, sewing, baking for others, camping and family dinners. On June 9, 1949 Lois was united in marriage with Richard T. Griffin at Williamsburg, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harold, Charlie and Henry Spring, and five sisters, Margaret Johnson, Ann Adams, Mildred Burns, Alice Courtney and Jerry Horne. Lois is survived by four daughters, Cindy Stevenson and her husband, Fred, of Rantoul, Debbie Griffin of Pomona, Carolyn Snethen and her husband, Ron, of Ottawa, and Penny Thompson and her husband, Ed, of Pomona; a sister, Mary Binderman of Coronado, California; two granddaughters, Christie Bowman-Ross and her husband, Brian, of Spring Hill, Kansas and Jami Thompson-Story and her husband, David, of Ottawa; three grandsons, Tony Snethen and his wife, Rachelle, of Olathe, Kansas, Scott Snethen and his wife, Beth, of Pomona, and Brian Thompson of Pomona; a greatgranddaughter, Grace Kathryn Snethen, and a great grandson, Braylon Trey Snethen. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2007. IN STATE: Mrs. Griffin will lie in state from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Dengel & Son Mortuary until service hour, where the family will meet with friends 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
