Lois Ann Mcilvain

Lois Ann (Gambrel) McIlvain, age 71, of Rantoul, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S Hickory St., Ottawa, Kansas 66067. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, also at the funeral home. The final resting place will be Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas.

Lois was born on April 24, 1952, in Checotah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Orville T. and Lois C. (Burns) Gambrel. She graduated from Parsons High School and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pittsburg State University.

She married Dennis McIlvain on April 16, 1983, at the First Christian Church of Garnett, Kansas.

She was a kind soul who believed in hard work, quiet generosity, and giving others the benefit of the doubt. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Orville T. Gambrel, and one brother, Robert (Don) Gambrel.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis McIlvain; daughter, Dana York; son, Dustin McIlvain; daughter, Deanna Shields; mother, Lois Gambrel; sister, Betty Scaletty; brother, Orville T. Gambrel Jr.; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
