Anthony "Lloyd" Schneider Jr., age 72, passed away September 2nd surrounded by family at his home, memorials to the Miami County Cancer Foundation. Anthony Lloyd Schneider Jr. was born March 22nd, 1940 in Independence, KS to Anthony Lloyd Sr. and Doris Marie Foresman Schneider. Lloyd graduated from Bishop Lillis High School in Kansas City, MO. After which he entered the United States Air Force serving from 1957 to 1961. Lloyd received his Associate Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Central Technical Institute in Kansas City, MO in 1964. Lloyd then worked for several companies from 1964 to 1972, including Haliburton, Allied Signal, and Leeds & Northrup before going to work for Kansas City Power and Light from 1972 to 1994. He then worked for the Wolf Creek Nuclear power plant, retiring in 1995. Lloyd was united in marriage to Deanna Woodard in May of 1962. The marriage ended in divorce in 1974. On November 16th, 1974 he was married to Janet Leonard at Block Trinity Lutheran Church. They celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in November of 2011. Lloyd enjoyed raising horses for 28 years on his Block farm and served as president of the Miami County Trail Riders. Lloyd also served as president of the Teachers League for Trinity Lutheran School in Block and the East Valley Township Zoning Board. He also served as secretary of Block Ruritan, coached Babe Ruth Baseball in Paola, was a member of the IBEW Local 412, and served as a member of the Paola High School Football Chain Crew for 31 years. Lloyd volunteered for the American Cancer Society for 12 years and was a member of the Block Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, traveling to Texas in the winter where he and his wife Janet had a winter home. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, a son Daniel Luther Schneider in 1989, and a brother Lawrence James Schneider in 1991. Survivors include his wife, Janet, of the home, daughter Catherine Yvonne Kensinger of Independence, MO, son David Anthony Schneider and wife Robin of rural Paola, and daughter Roberta Gene Kunard of Paola. Survivors also include sisters Doris Warren, Vera Foresman, and Rosemary Kaiser, and brother Bernard Schneider. Lloyd had a special relationship and was very proud of his 9 grandchildren.
