Linda Kay Neal, age 69, of Paola, Kansas passed away August 26, 2013. Linda was born October 24, 1943 to Kyle and Hazel Myers Ballew at Newport News, Virginia. She was united in marriage to Robert Allen Neal on January 19, 1962 in Hampton, VA. They moved to Kansas shortly after their marriage and became the parents of three children. While her children were young she attended St. Margaret School of Nursing where she received her Nursing Degree. Linda was the first administrator of the Miami County Health Department, which was formed in 1975, and worked there until 1985. She also worked at Upjohn in Kansas City and at Riverside Hospital in Virginia in the critical care unit. Linda was a very devoted Christian. She enjoyed her pets, cooking, sewing, reading, painting, drawing, quilting, genealogy, and gardening especially growing flowers. She was a wonderful wife, mother, nanny, and sibling. She loved being with her family and enjoyed going to her grandchildren's activities. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Art. She is survived by her husband Robert; son Robert (Allen) Neal, II (Diana) of Osawatomie; daughter Shannon Morgan (Bruce) of Paola; brothers Kyle Ballew of Stafford, VA and Greg Ballew of Hampton, VA; sister Barbara Reece of Hampton, VA, grandchildren Molli, Artie, Matti, and Maggi Morgan, Tara Beery (Raymond), and Samantha Giffin (Chance); Austin and Shay Neal, great grandchildren Lane and Rayce Beery, and Rhylie Giffin; and step-grandchildren Clint and Lance Freeman. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or Miami County Cancer Foundation.
