Linda N. Orr

Linda N. Orr, 70, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at Washington Creek Church, north of Globe, Kansas, 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 23, 2013. Family will meet with friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. prior to service. Interment Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, Kansas. Linda was born on Tuesday, February 23, 1943 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Joe and Era (Carmichael) Nelson. She resided in the Clinton and Lawrence, Kansas areas for the last 33 years, recently moving to Olathe. She was born and raised in Topeka. She graduated from Highland Park High School, Topeka, Kansas with the class of 1961. On April 19, 1980 Linda was united in marriage with Herbert L. Orr, Jr. in Topeka, Kansas. They later divorced. Survivors include Herb Orr; four children, Jenne Miller and husband Todd of Olathe, Jamie Smith and wife Sue of Hanover, Kansas, Sean Smith and wife Pat of Topeka, and Amy Bettis of Overland Park; ten grandchildren, Aaron and Jesse Christiansen, Tyler Miller, Drew Fitzwater, Joshua Lebo, Lynsey Hubbard, Jeremiah and Jacob Stewart, and Thad and Sarah Smith; and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Devon Fitzwater. Linda worked as an administrative assistant in the Chancellors Office at KU from 1983 to 2008. She was a member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church, Lawrence. Linda will be remembered as a kind and caring person who loved her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and pets. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and family, hunting, fishing and KU sports. She will be deeply missed and will remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends forever.
