Lily Maxine Baldwin was born March 7, 1914, at Seybert, in Dade County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Silas E. and Mary M. (Marcum) Shaw. A near lifelong resident, Maxine moved at the age of four years with her family to the Franklin County, Kansas area. She made her home in Ottawa, until her death Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at the age of eighty-nine years. She graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1930. She was a homemaker. She also worked as a seamstress at H.D. Lee in Ottawa for fifteen years, retiring in 1976. Maxine was one who appreciated nature. She enjoyed gardening and caring for her flowers. She was also a golf enthusiast. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts, creating many lovely items for her family and friends to cherish through the years. Maxine was married to Daniel W. Rocker, and they were later divorced. On April 11, 1953, Maxine was united in marriage with James Willard
