Lillie M. Tucker, 88, of Franklin County, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Country Living Inc., in Easton, Kansas. Mrs. Tucker will lie in state from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 26, 2017 at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., prior to services at the funeral home. Burial Peoria Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas. Lillie was born Sunday, May 5, 1929 in Pomona, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Shepherd) Button. She was a near life-long Franklin County resident. Lillie moved to Lawrence in 2014, and then to Easton in 2016 where she made her home until her death. Lillie graduated from Appanoose High School with the class of 1947. She graduated from Ottawa University and went on to teach at rural Franklin County schools as an elementary teacher. She was united in marriage to Harley Alan Tucker December 19, 1951 in Ottawa, Kansas. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together. Survivors include her husband, Harley Tucker of Easton; two children, Cindy Strother and husband Brian of Humble, Texas, and Robert Tucker and wife Christine of Topeka; eleven grandchildren, Corey Tucker, Robbie Tucker, Amber Summeralls, Chris Tucker, Heather Reeder, Keia Strother, Jake Strother, Jade Strother, Dylan Tucker, Dalton Tucker, and Dakota Tucker; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beth Hinderliter of Ottawa, Gloria Button of Weatherford, Texas, and Theo Escobebo; and many nieces and nephews. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna Button; and siblings, Roy Eugene Button, Doris Hamerman, Jo Canfield, Earnest Button, and Frances Etta Button. As well as teaching for local elementary schools, Lillie worked in the admissions department at Ransom Memorial Hospital from the 1960’s to the 1980’s. Lillie was a Sunday school teacher for many years at Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa, where she was a member. She was known as a good cook and it made her feel proud to serve a good meal to her family. Lillie took great pride in raising her grandsons, Corey and Robbie.
