Lillian P. Homrighausen, 93 of Paola, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the North Point Care Center. Lillian was born January 20, 1917 in Miami County, Kansas to John and Ida Reifel Minden. She was the sixth of eight children and grew up in the Block community. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Block. On her 20th birthday, January 20, 1937, she was united in marriage to August (Gus) Homrighausen in Long Beach, CA. Gus had gone to California to seek employment the year before and after finding work in the shipyards, he sent for her. To this union were born two sons, Don and Dale. Gus preceded her in death in 1993. In 1947 the family returned to Paola to be near family and because Gus missed the fresh water fishing and hunting. Gus joined her brother, Joe Minden, in the service station business. He later retired from Taylor Forge. Lillian enjoyed getting together with family for special occasions and big dinners. She was an excellent crafter and loved crocheting and quilting. She also had a green thumb and always had flowers in the yard and in Gus" vegetable garden. She was especially proud of her white lilac bush. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, John and Ida Minden; her brothers and sisters, Manda Prothe, Elsie Prothe, Edna Alpert, Joe Minden, Stella Vohs, and Ralph Minden. Survivors are her sons, Don and wife Kathy Homrighausen of Overland Park, KS, and Dale and wife Doris Homrighausen of Paola; one brother, Norman and wife Carol Minden of Paola; 4 grandchildren , 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
