Lila Maxine Peed

Lila Maxine Peed, age 82, of Williamsburg, Kansas, died Monday, February 13, 2012, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born on Saturday, March 9, 1929, in Pomona, Kansas, the daughter of Ira and Mabel Burruss Thompson. She was a lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident. Lila graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1946. Following graduation, Maxine worked side by side with her husband on their farm in Williamsburg for almost 65 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, enjoyed crafts and puzzles, was a great cook and an avid basketball fan. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa, Kansas. On April 21, 1947, Maxine was united in marriage with Charles Peed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is survived by her: Husband – Charles Peed of their home Daughter – Joyce Coll of Villa Rica, Georgia Son – Francis Peed and his wife, Midge, of Pomona, Kansas Brother – Laurence Thompson of Kechi, Kansas Sister – Bertha Morgan of Ottawa, Kansas Grandchildren – (4) Chad, Christina, Jennifer, Jason Great-Grandchildren – (5) Kyle, Katlyn, Tyler, Austin, Lila She is preceded in death by her: Parents – Ira and Mabel Thompson Sister – Carol Thompson Sister – Fern Johnson Brother – LeRoy Thompson Brother – Carl Thompson SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012. IN STATE: Mrs. Peed will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Friday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7:30 to 8:30 Friday evening. CEMETERY: St. John’s Cemetery in Homewood, Kansas.
