Lila M. Miskimon, 86, of Burlington, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Life Care Center of Burlington. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 4, 2015, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Lila was born Thursday, July 11, 1929, in Homewood, Kansas, the daughter of Alfred “Fred” and Anna Belle (Gay) Guge. She was a near lifelong resident of Ottawa living a short time in Coos Bay, Oregon. In 2003, Lila moved to Burlington where she made her home until her death. Lila was united in marriage with Orville Aaron Beaty in 1946, in Ottawa. They were later divorced. She married Ralph Eldon Miskimon February 18, 1966. He preceded her in death May 20, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Esther Spaulding, Ella Spaulding, James Guge, and Harold “John” Guge; grandsons, Tony Slocum and James Holmes; great-grandsons, Abel Slocum and Draven Cathcard; and companion, Everett Donley. Survivors include her four children, Leroy Beaty and wife Wanda Susie of Lebo, Linda Smith of Ottawa, Charlotte Holmes and husband Larry of Sylacauga, Alabama, Tracy Cathcard-Lang and husband Michael K. of Melvern; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Lila was a devoted homemaker and also worked as a waitress and fry cook for the L & L Café and the Franklin County Sale Barn, retiring in the early 1980’s. She attended the Cherry Street Wesleyan Church in Ottawa for many years. Lila loved to babysit her grandchildren, her cat Toby, long walks in the park, feeding squirrels, crocheting, gardening, and her 2-a-day coffee breaks.
