Lila Ann Pettit

October 12, 1933 — May 31, 2015

Lila Ann Pettit, age 81, of Stilwell, KS passed away May 31, 2015 at her home. Days of our lives with Lila Ann Pettit "The Tap Root of our Family Tree" was born October 12, 1933 in Riverside Missouri, the daughter of Jesse and Edith Ritter Crusha. She moved to heaven from her home on May 31, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. At her request there will only be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on June 3, 2015. at the Aubry Cemetery, Stilwell, KS. Lila will join her grandparents, parents, three siblings, (Charles Crusha, Bonnie Cox, and Myrtle Parnell), two children (Cheryl Goad, and Jesse Hood) and her husband (Larry Pettit). She told Larry before he passed to find a bench when he got there and wait on her. We are sure she found him right there waiting. For those that remain here to join her later on are; her daughter of the home (Leann Pettit), son of Oklahoma ( Benny & Cheryl McGee), stepsons one of Holden, Missouri (Rick & Laverne Pettit) and the other of Oklahoma (Robert Pettit), daughter in-law of Kansas City, Kansas, (Dawn Hood). Lila was blessed with a beautiful family which over the span of her life produced, 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Lila believed in the fast lane of life, she worked hard and played harder. Her first job was in North Kansas City for National Bell & Hess as a seamstress making coats, and she retired from Reno Construction after thirty plus years as a scale-operator. She drove race cars, rode motor-cycles, loved planting trees and flowers, playing solitaire with cards at the kitchen table, she enjoyed word search puzzles and one her greatest passions was country music her favorite artist was Freddie Hart. Lila had a strong spirit and back in the day she challenged the devil on a daily basis some referred to her as the devil"s daughter, however, after receiving the good Lord in her heart she would just voice her opinion with a soft tongue, if the flesh did get ruffled she would just ask the Lord to forgive her and move on. Lila"s main accomplishment in life was clearing the land to build her home to rear six children, her Uncle Doc which lived there for thirty years, and Larry"s mother Mae who lived with her for fourteen years. She adored her home and the many trinkets she had displayed there. Anyone that knew Lila knew how determined she always was to finish what she started. And she now has finished her journey here on Earth and is beginning her Eternal life with her family and friends afar. For those of you grieving for her loss, she would say to you: "Hold your chin up and keep taking one step at a time!" Memorial contributions can be made to the Pettit family in care of Leann Pettit.
