Letitia S. Young ("Letty") of Paola, KS passed away at her home Tuesday, June 16. Letty was born February 27, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY to Vincent and Elinore Mullen Sweeney. She graduated from high school in Eldred, NY and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in 1960. She was united in marriage to Charles Yoh in June 1960, had two children, and lived in Wisconsin prior to moving to Oklahoma in 1972. In September 1979, she was united in marriage to Donald Young, and they lived in Kinta, OK, until moving to the Kansas City area in 1997. Letty has worked at PRA International in Clinical Operations since then, and she and Donald have made their home in Paola, KS for the last 10 years. Letty loved her family, horses, quilting, needlework, antiques, cooking, and was a regular patron of the Paola Free Library. She was a member of the Junior League of Milwaukee, the Alpha Phi Sorority, and while living in Wisconsin had been a volunteer naturalist at Riveredge Nature Center. Survivors are her husband Donald; daughter Letitia and husband Keith Bowen of Overland Park, KS.; son Donnie and wife Joye Young of Monroe, LA; son C.V. and wife Meshelle Yoh of Stigler, OK; son Yancy Westgate of Iola, KS; mother Elinore Sweeney of Paola; 2 sister-in-laws; 4 cousins; 2 nieces and 3 nephews. She is known as "Grammie" to 5 granddaughters and 5 grandsons. She was preceded in death by her father, Vincent Sweeney. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, June 20 at her home in Paola, 29122 Indianapolis Rd; her resting place will be in Sans Bois Cemetery in Kinta, OK. Survivors are her husband Don of the home, dau., Letitia and husband Keith Bowen of Overland Park, KS., son, Donnie and wife Joey Young of Monroe, Louisiana, son, C.V. and wife Meshelle of Stigler Okla., son Yancey Westgate of Iola, KS., mother Elinore Sweeney of Paola 10 grandchildren and 4 cousins.
