Lester C. Raines

L.C. was born August 28, 1927, in Louisburg, KS, the son of Lester C., Sr. and Lillie M. Wilson Raines. L.C. graduated from Louisburg High School in 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1962. He married Sue J. Sloan on June 3, 1951, at First Christian Church in Louisburg, KS. In 1970, he and his wife purchased a farm, where they raised their three children and earned a living from farming. He lived on the property until his death. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sue, of the home; a son, Allen W. Raines and wife Gina, Niceville, FL; two daughters, Melinda S. Montgomery and husband Bob, Olathe, and Kathy E. Brant and husband Kevin, Louisburg; three brothers, Robert W. Raines, Bella Vista, AR, Glenn A. Raines, Mt. Sterling, IL, and Earl Raines, Lovell, WY; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, Ashley, Christine, Neal, Matt, and Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Makayla and Abigail; and several nieces and nephews.
