Leslie Ray Mallory

Leslie Ray 'Buzz' Mallory was born April 20, 1919, at Homewood, Kansas. He was the son of John Leslie and Edith (Brown) Mallory. Since the age of six months, he lived in the same house in Williamsburg, in Franklin County, Kansas, until his death Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at the age of eighty-five years. He attended schools at '96' and Williamsburg High, until his sophomore year, when he left to help on the family farm. He was a lifelong farmer and stockman. Mr. Mallory was a member of the former Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Buzz was an outdoorsman. He loved working on the farm, especially, with the cattle and his dogs, and also liked to go hunting. He enjoyed listening to the Royals and watching Wheel of Fortune every evening. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and grandchildren. On January 16, 1941, Buzz was united in marriage with Bernice Ruth Barton at Williamsburg, Kansas. She survives of Richmond. H e is also survived by his son, Carol Mallory and his wife, Linda, of Williamsburg; sister, Olla Keenan of Ottawa; granddaughter, Mindy Baker and her husband, Casey, of Williamsburg; two grandsons, Mark Mallory of Overland Park and Michael Mallory and his wife, Kristin, of Lawrence; two great-grandsons, Jackson Ray and Peyton Michael Mallory, both of Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Mallory is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Opal Nitcher. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Jim Cain. IN STATE: Mr. Mallory will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 1:30 to 2:30 Saturday afternoon prior to processing to the cemetery. CEMETERY: Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Williamsburg Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
