Leota Fern Gould was born on Tuesday, February 18, 1919, in Lebo, Kansas. She was the daughter of James Harrison and Pearl Ethelda (Myers) Bristow. Leota moved with her family to Ottawa in Franklin County, Kansas, when she was about three or four years old. In 1938, she moved to California, returned to Ottawa in 1942, and, in the fall of 2002, moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to live with her daughter and son-in-law until returning to Ottawa in July of 2006, where she made her home until her death on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at the age of eighty-eight years. Leota worked twenty years as a sales clerk for J.C. Penney, retiring in 1981. In the 1950's, she managed the lunchroom for the Wellsville School and, in more recent years, was an antique dealer and doll collector. Leota was a beautiful and caring lady. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her antiques and doll collection were so much fun for Leota, as were the senior trips with her friends. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Wellsville, Kansas, and Emery Green Club. On March 28, 1938, Leota was united in marriage with Roger William Gould in Los Angeles, California. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1989. She is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leo J. Bristow; and sister, Norma P. Williams. Leota is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Jean and James S. Everett of Henderson, Nevada; granddaughter, Jacqueline Sue 'Jackie' Everett of Washington, DC; grandson, James Samuel 'Jim' Everett, III and his wife, Rachel, of Orange County, California; brother and sister-in-law, Galen M. and Dorrene Bristow of Ottawa; great-granddaughters, Alexa, Audrey, and Alexandra; great-grandson, Quinn; and sister-in-law, Violet Bristow of Osawatomie, Kansas.
