Leonard Ward Rowles, 92, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away at his home on Monday, January 3, 2022. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Central Standard Time and 2:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Saturday, January 15, 2021, a virtual meeting only, from North Peach Tree City, Georgia. A link to view the service will be provided on Leonard’s Tribute Wall with passcode: 810635. Leonard was born February 6, 1929, in Bunceton, Missouri, the son of Emil and Lovell (Young) Rowles. He grew up in Bunceton, Missouri, living in Kansas City, Missouri from 1964 to 2008 then moving to Fayetteville, Georgia where he lived until 3 months ago when he moved to Ottawa. He was united in marriage to Norma Simpson in 1949 in Pilot Grove, Missouri. She preceded him in death in 1986. Leonard was later united in marriage to Barbara Wright December 22, 2008, in Ottawa. She survives of the home. Leonard was an airline mechanic for 26 years working at the Kansas City International Airport, retiring September 30, 1990. He served in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Leonard was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses in North Peach Tree City, Georgia, and a current member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ottawa. He enjoyed grilling, fishing, boating, hunting and playing cards. Leonard especially loved family gatherings and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Leonard was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma, parents, son, Dacre Rowles, brothers, Earl Crockett, Joe Rowles, and Cremation is planned. Herman Rowles and sister, Sophie Hill. Survivors include his wife Barbara, children, Linda Taylor (John) of Kansas City, Missouri, Leonard D. Rowles (Judy) of Independence, Missouri, Sherri Lucas (Bob) of St. Louis, Missouri, Barbara Brown of Georgia, Debrorah Hansen (Michael) of Kansas City, Missouri and David Rowles (Lori) of Ottawa; brother, George Rowles of Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Sarah Sewing of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren many nieces and nephews and a very good friend, Larry Mack (Claudia).
