Leo grew up in Franklin County, living in Osawatomie, Alabama, and Blue Mound, Kansas, since 2002. Leo attended school in Pomona. Leo worked as a farmer, deputy undersheriff in Coffey County, maintenance at Wolf Creek Power Plant and as a truck driver for the Miami Co-Op, retiring in about 1995. He had also worked on the oil pipeline in Alaska. Leo was a member of Xenia Lodge #47, A.F. & A.M. (Ancient Free & Accepted Masons) in Xenia, Kansas, which is the oldest lodge west of the Mississippi River, and Mirza Shrine Temple of Pittsburg, Kansas. In 1961, Leo was united in marriage with Dorothy Louise Andrews. They were later divorced. In 1992, he married Jenny Watkins. They were later divorced. His companion, Susan White, survives. SERVICES: Mr. Mathias was cremated. No services are planned. Private inurnment at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas.
