Leo Francis Collins, 58, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Kansas. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 P.M., Monday, May 10, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, followed by a visitation for family and friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Williamsburg. Leo was born February 25, 1963, at Garnett, Kansas, the son of Charles Louis and Monica Elizabeth (Moran) Collins. He was raised on the family dairy farm at Emerald, Anderson County, Kansas, with 5 sisters and 3 brothers. In 2002, Leo moved to Lawrence. He graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1981; machinist and welding training in Ottawa; and graduated from Central New Mexico Community College with an Associate of Arts in microchip/circuit board design. Leo then began working at Sandia Labs at Los Alamos, New Mexico. Leo was employed with Anderson Rentals, Lawrence, for the last 15 years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Emerald; The Ronald Regan/Young America’s Foundation and a supporter of the Disabled American Veterans. Leo enjoyed hunting, sports, gardening, and continued interest in agriculture. Above all, Leo loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monica and Charles Collins, and his brother John Collins. Survivors include seven siblings, Kathy (Denny) Graves of Lawrence, Rose Marie (Robert) Drumm of Waverly, Regina (Tony) Wittman of Olathe, Thomas (Ann) Collins of Williamsburg, Tim Collins of Lawrence, Joan (Glen) Gagnon of Williamsburg, and Peggy (Don) Payne of Overland Park; sister-in-law Myong (Min) Collins of Albuquerque, New Mexico; stepmother, Charlene Goscha of Oakley; five stepbrothers, Vic, Mike, Bruce, Mark, Brian Campbell; stepsister Bridget (Campbell) Koster; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Patrick’s Cemetery or Brain Injury Assoc. of KS (BIAA) c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
