Lena Mary Reed

Lena Mary Reed, age 93, of Ottawa, died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Ottawa Retirement Village. She was born on September 29, 1918, the daughter of John J. and Valvena “Edith” (Bouley) Wuckowitch. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident, moving from the Pomona area into Ottawa in 2007. Lena graduated from Appanoose High School with the class of 1939. She worked from 1944 until 1947 at the Hercules Powder Plant; then twenty-three years for Bennett’s Creamery in Ottawa, and later several years in the kitchen at Crestview Nursing Home in Ottawa. She was involved with the family farm her entire life. She was of the Catholic faith. On Friday, January 15, 1971, Lena was united in marriage with Robert Allen Reed at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death 1988. She was previously married to Cecil L. Morgan. They later divorced. Survivors include five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Valvena “Edith’ Wuckowitch; sons, John R. Morgan, Frank Morgan, and brother, Frank Wuckowitch, and granddaughter, Belinda Morgan. Cremation is planned with graveside inurnment services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in Ottawa.
