Lela Mcmullan

Lela G. McMullan, 82, Paola, KS, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at the Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be Saturday, August 9th, at the Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel from 10 am " 11 am. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 am at Hillsdale Cemetery, Hillsdale, Kansas. The family requests that memorials be made to the Kansas City Hospice House. To leave family condolences, go to Penwell-Gabel.com. Lela McMullan was born November 23, 1925, in Hillsdale, Kansas, to Jules and Florence Rager Jennings. She grew up in Hillsdale and graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1943. Lela was married in 1952 to John McMullan and they made their home in Paola. She raised three children and was a lifelong resident of the Paola area. Lela cleaned houses for other people and her hobbies were watching all star wrestling and working crossword puzzles. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 1980, one sister, and four brothers. Survivors include her children, son John and wife Carrie McMullan of Paola, daughter, Dena and husband Richard Sawyer of Gamaliel Arkansas, son Henry(Junior) and wife Bev Flemings, of New Jersey, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and one brother Abner Jennings of Liberty, Missouri. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
