Lela Esther Morris

Lela Esther (Reichard) Morris, age 89, of Hillsboro, Oregon., died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at Evergreen Nursng Home in Hillsboro. She grew up in Minneapolis, Kansas. After her marriage, they moved to the family farm near Garnett, Kansas, and to Oregon in the 1950's. Lela graduated from Minneapolis High School with the class of 1932. Lela was an employee of J.C. Penney's for much of her working life. She was the head bookkeeper for J.C. Penney's in Ottawa, KS, Garnett, KS, Hillsboro, OR, and Anchorage, Alaska. On October 6, 1939, Lela was united in marriage with Dale Acklin at Salina, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1961. On September 17, 1965, she was united in marriage with Walter John Morris in Anchorage, Alaska. He preceded her in death in 1999. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery, 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Elvin Dillard. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
