Leila Arlene Talbott-Swank was born September 12, 1937, at Garnett, Kansas. She was the daughter of Clyde Leland and Minnie L. (Smith) Berry. A lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident, Arlene made her home in Pomona, until her death Monday, January 31, 2005, at the age of sixty-seven years. Arlene graduated from Richmond High School with the class of 1955. She began employment as a teller and later became a personal banker. She worked for Anchor Savings Association and Bank Four, both of Ottawa, over twenty years. She was a member of First Christian Church; Union Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star; Ottawa Assembly #136, Social Order of the Beauceant; Ottawa Shrine #19, White Shrine of Jerusalem; and, Retta Conclave #8, Order of True Kindred, all of Ottawa. She was an avid painter, enjoyed making craft items, and loved caring for her flower garden. Arlene's greatest love, however, was for her family, who was very precious to her, and spending time with her grandchildren. On October 16, 1955, Arlene was united in marriage with Charles Marion Talbott at Richmond, Kansas. He preceded her in death September 27, 1999. On April 18, 2001, Arlene was united in marriage with Wayne Swank at First United Methodist Church of Williamsburg, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is also survived by two daughters, Kristi Baker and her husband, Dennis, of Princeton, Kansas, Barbara Ledom and her husband, Rick, of Ottawa; sister, Phyllis Donaldson and her husband, Robert, of Topeka, Kansas; brother, Carl Berry and his wife, Elaine, of West DesMoines, Iowa; two grandsons, Curtis Baker, Christopher Baker; granddaughter, Shana Ledom; two step granddaughters, Jerri Beckwith, Maria Lear; and, four step great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Keith Talbott; and, daughter, Charlene Talbott. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2005. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Katrina Palan. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Swank at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening.
