Leah Diane Crawford, 78, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, at the University of Kansas Health System. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 10, 2022, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Mrs. Crawford will lie in state from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Leah was born November 26, 1943, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence Sr. and Geraldine (Hughes) Owen. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident, graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1961. Leah was united in marriage to Bob Crawford on August 4, 1961, in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2017. Leah was a devoted lifelong homemaker also working as a beautician from the late 1960’s to mid-1980’s in Ottawa. For over 30 years Leah and Bob worked together at the Wildlife and Parks at Pomona Lake State Park. Leah also worked in food service at the Ottawa Middle School from 1998 to 2014. She was a member of the Aerie Lodge 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary of Ottawa. Leah enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, cooking and camping. Family and grandchildren were always her greatest joy. She was also preceded in death by her parents and daughter Stacy Crawford. Survivors include her son, Roger Crawford of Ottawa; brother Larry (Barbara) Owen also of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Tayler Sitlington of Ottawa, Bree Crawford of Topeka, and Brody Crawford also of Topeka; and three great grandchildren, Kount, Honestii, and Armor. The family suggests memorial contributions to Franklin County Cancer Foundation c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
