Lawrence L. Bryan, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at his home in Ottawa, Kansas, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 11, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends one hour prior to service at 9:00 A.M. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Lawrence was born Monday, March 31, 1930, in Pomona, Kansas, the son of Frank E. and Elma N. (Rhodes) Bryan. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident. Lawrence was united in marriage with Evelyn Wheeler May 31, 1952 in Centropolis, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his six children, Larry Bryan, Jr. of Ottawa, John Bryan of Ottawa, Tim Bryan and wife Tammi also of Ottawa, Janet Barnett and husband Logan of Perry, Wanda Richards and husband Dennis of Ottawa, and Debbie Green and husband Milton of Ottawa; brother, Richard Bryan of Lawrence; seventeen grandchildren; and thirty-five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Paul Bryan, Robert Bryan, William “Bill” Bryan, and Harold Bryan; two sisters, Jeanne Collins and Ada Tornedon; and great grandson, Aaron Michael Scott. Lawrence served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1946 to 1958. He was employed with the Olathe Post Office, as a mail carrier, for thirty-one years, retiring in 1985. Lawrence will be remembered as a kind and caring man who loved, supported and cared for his family throughout his life. He loved “cruising in the car” near the lakes in the surrounding area. He liked to sit in his “comfy” lawn chair in the shade, no matter how hot it was. He was a good man. He liked watching KC Chiefs football, KC Royals baseball, KU basketball, old movies and westerns. He also enjoyed reading westerns, country music and talk radio. The family suggests memorial contributions to Lawrence Bryan Memorial Fund c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
