Lawrence Eugene 'Gene' Foster was born April 23, 1953, in Iola, Kansas. He was the son of Robert W. and Lora B. (Dietrich) Foster. Gene lived in Carlyle, Kansas, before moving to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, in 1972, where he made his home, until his death Saturday, April 24, 2004, at the age of fifty-one years. Mr. Foster and his brother were owners and operators of Foster's Garage in Ottawa for thirty-one years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ottawa. Gene enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to go fishing and hunting and work in the garden. He also liked to whittle on wood. Gene is survived by two sisters, Betty Sutterby and her husband, David, of Olathe, Kansas, Patricia M. Johnson of Ottawa; three brothers, Robert W. Foster of Humansville, Missouri, James W. Foster of Ottawa, Fredrick J. Foster of Ottawa; three nieces, three great-nieces; and four great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lora Jane Foster. SERVICES: Family and friends will meet for graveside services at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Humbolt, Kansas Noon on Wednesday, April 28, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Fr. Tod Ziegler IN STATE: Mr. Foster will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00pm Monday to the service hour where a rosary will be said at 6:30pm Tuesday. Followed by a visatation from 7-8. CEMETERY: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Humbolt, Kansas.
