Lawrence Allen Dyer was born March 30, 1913, in rural Pomona, Kansas. He was the son of John M. and Zola A. (Teft) Dyer. He lived in Los Angeles, California, in the early 1930's, and Wichita, Kansas, in the late 1930's and early 1940's, prior to moving to Pomona, in Franklin County, Kansas, where he made his home until his death Friday May 10, 2002, at the age of eighty-nine years. Lawrence graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1931. Following high school, in the early 1930's, Lawrence was employed by Douglas Aircraft, an aircraft production company, in Los Angeles, California, and Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, as a production supervisor, in the late 1930's and early 1940's. For fifty years, he was a self-employed dairy farmer. He was a 33rd degree member of the Scottish Rite Consistory of Wichita. Lawrence enjoyed working with leather, and, over the years, became quite an expert. He also enjoyed his farm and working on his tractor. His family was most important to Lawrence, and he loved the family get-togethers, especially, the wiener roasts. On August 11, 1945, Lawrence was united in marriage with Verda Clour at Augusta, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by three daughters, Patty Griffin of Pomona, Linda Thornbrugh and her husband, Terry, of Perry, Barbara Kiehl and her husband, Don, of Pomona; son, Mike Dyer and his wife, Barbara, of Pomona; sister, Mary Enslow and her husband, Clark, of Yakima, Washington; and, eleven grandchildren, Travis Thornbrugh, Trent Thornbrugh, Bryon Kiehl, Shelly Kiehl, Kristen Kiehl, Robin Griffin, Richard Griffin, John Griffin, Rose Griffin, Joseph Dyer, and Justin Dyer. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie Clark; and, brother, Robert Dyer. SERVICES: Graveside inurnment services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Milan Lambertson. IN STATE: The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8:00 Monday evening at the Dengel & Son Mortuary. CEMETERY: Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas.
