Lawrence Allen Blakeley, 79 ,of Ottawa, KS died Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at his home. Lawrence grew up in Wisconsin and moved to this area in the fall of 1948. Lawrence graduated from Williams Bay High School in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, with the class of 1941 and from Kansas University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Accounting and personnel management. Lawrence worked as an accountant from February 1952 until October 1954 at Westvaco Chemical Company in Lawrence, Kansas; October 1954 until June 1956 at Peat, Marwick and Mitchell CPA Firm in Kansas City, Missouri; January 1957 until October 1968 at Bendix-King in Kansas City, Missouri; then, about two years at Ottawa Steel; approximately nine months at Taylor-Forge in Paola; Ottawa University; Cleveland Chiropactic College in Kansas City, Missouri; and sold real estate for Eugene Brown in Kansas City. From November 1981 until May 1983, he operated a donut shop in Butler, Missouri, and worked as a temporary employee as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City from January 1988 until January 1993. Lawrence served in the 80th Airborne Division from March 1945 to July of 1946, during World War II, attaining the rank of T-4. On September 10, 1950, Lawrence was united in marriage with Lorna Irma Rink at Wichita, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by: Daughter-Deborah Dee Blakeley of Ottawa, Kan. Son-Alan Lee Blakeley of Warsaw, Ind. Daughter-Sharon Lynn Brandt of Kearney, NE Daughter-Cynthia Susan Cameron of Westwood, Kan. Sister-Elizabeth Durst of Richland Center, Wis. Brother-Geryl Blakeley of Williams Bay, Wis. Sister-Doris Kassera of Eau Claire, Wis. Granddaughter-Blakeley Bond Granddaughter-Bree Brandt Grandson-Scott Cameron Grandson-Adam Cameron He was preceded in death by: Father-J. Floyd Blakeley Mother-Vivian Genevieve (Rector) Blakeley Brother-Rector Blakeley SERVICES: Mr. Blakeley was cremated and no services are planned.
