LaVerne C. Wallace passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the age of 96. LaVerne was born April 10, 1921 in Martinez, California. She graduated from Alhambra High School in 1939. In the year 1944, she meant and married William (Bill) W. Wallace, who was a soldier in the Army in San Francisco, California, and then moved to Bill’s hometown, Ottawa, Kansas. LaVerne said many times that she considered Ottawa her lifetime home. LaVerne was a member or the First United Methodist Church, Chapter AU of the P.E.O. Sisterhood over 50 years, Entre Nous Club and Bridge Club. She was a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. LaVerne loved helping others. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, going out with friends, and most of all, she loved her family. LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, William W. Wallace; and son, Scott J. Wallace. She is survived by her two daughters, Geraldine (Louis) Toth of Martinez, California, and Laurie W. Kuechler of Ottawa, Kansas; son Thurston (Margaret) W. Wallace of Brighton, Colorado; six grandchildren, John (Brooke) Wallace of Denver, Colorado, Amanda (Joe) Bushek of Lyons, Colorado, Nathan Wallace of Brighton, Colorado, Matt (Jennifer) Toth of Martinez, California, Catherine (Akos) Fintor of Martinez, California, and Brian (Christy) Kuechler of Gardner, Kansas; and five great-grandchildren, Brycen and Kinzie Kuechler, Jacek and Danica Bushek, and Alexander Toth. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
