Lavern M. Holzapfel

LaVern M. Holzapfel, 77, of Ottawa, passed away in the comfort of his home Sunday, June 6, 2021. He is now in the presence of his precious Lord Christ Jesus. Private graveside services will be held later at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. LaVern was born October 16, 1943, at Concordia, Kansas, the son of George William and Leta Elizabeth (Shepard) Holzapfel. He lived in Ottawa since the age of 6 moving from Miltonvale, Kansas. He graduated from Ottawa High School. LaVern was united in marriage to Daveen Ribeau June 19, 1965. She survives of the home. He was a delivery driver for Bingo Dog Food and Schwan’s before working at Walmart Logistics as a trainer and parking trucks, retiring in 2008. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and when he was younger, LaVern was a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America). He was also an avid fisherman and loved camping at the local lakes. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Opal Boone and Orletha Johnson. Survivors include a son Travis Martin Holzapfel; sister Rose Laster; and many nieces and nephews.
